With thousands in the Saline area still without power, the Saline Area Schools district is providing the community with a warming shelter at Liberty School, 7265 N. Ann Arbor St.
The warming center will be open until 7 p.m. tonight, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday, and from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday. DTE is providing blankets, water and snacks to those using the warming center.
The Saline Rec Center will continue to be a community resources. The Rec Center offers showers, a charge to electronics and a fill-up for water bottles. The Rec Center is open weekdays from 5:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
According to City Manager Todd Campbell, DTE says there are still 889 customers without power in the City of Saline alone. That number is down from 2,315 customers Thursday morning.
On Twitter, DTE announced it expects to restore power to another 200,000 customers by the end of the day. DTE estimates it will restore power to 90 percent of its customers by Sunday evening.
