Plans for the 2019 Saline Community Fair are being finalized and several new activities will be included. The 2019 fair will be held August 28 – September 2 at the Washtenaw Farm Council Grounds. Since Saline Area Schools will be in session during part of the fair week there are several special programs taking place in the late afternoon on Wednesday, August 28, which has also been designated as Saline Schools Day. Special admission prices will be offered all day and activities will feature local students and alumni. A Saline School Alumni Gathering will take place from 4- 7 p.m. and the first Saline Schools Clubs and Organizations Showcase will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Following that the Saline Schools Ag Olympics competition will return to the fair with a new look. Saline area students will also be exhibiting some of their animals on Wednesday evening.
In addition, the Saline Community Fair is looking for talented student artists from the Saline Area School District to design a t-shirt which will be sold at the fair. All entries are due May 10 and complete guidelines can be found on the Saline Community Fair Facebook page. The public will help the fair board select the winning design by voting for their favorite on the fair’s Facebook page. Voting will take place May 16 – 19, 2019.
Also new in 2019 is the Saline Community Fair Ambassador Scholarship Program which will provide several high school students with the opportunity to represent the fair and assist with various activities. The ambassador applications are due July 1 and can be found on the Saline Community Fair website at www.salinefair.org.
Another change for 2019 is that the fair is going green and will not be printing a fair book for general distribution. The fair book will be available on the website and several new classes have been promoted on Facebook. The remainder of the fair schedule remains similar to past years, with some new events added throughout fair week. More information will be available as this annual event approaches, but in the meantime mark your calendars for the 2019 Saline Community Fair and make plans now for participating in the fair and attending the fair’s many activities.
