Parade Weekend: Santa Claus is Coming to Town

It's Christmas parade weekend in Saline. Here's a quick schedule of this weekend's activities:

Saturday

8:30-10:30 a.m. - Cookie Walk at St. James UCC, 11005 W. Michigan Ave. They have lots of cookies, including German cookies. They also have homemade pretzel bites. Watch for gently used Christmas treasurers.

9 a.m.-3 p.m. - National Honor Society Food Drive. Students from Saline High School will visit neighborhoods collecting bags of non-perishable food items for Saline Area Social Service's food pantry.

10 a.m.-5 p.m. - Christmas Creche Exhibit. Holy Faith Church at 6299 Saline Ann Arbor Road has an exhibit with 300 nativity scenes from all over the world.

1:30 p.m. - Strings of Saline. A string ensemble performs holiday music at Brewed Awakenings Cafe, 7025 E. Michigan Ave.

3 p.m. - Fairly Tale Christmas Carol. The Saline Area Players present A Fairy Tale Christmas Carol at the Fifth Corner, located at Willis Road and Ann Arbor Street.

5 p.m. - The Merry Mile. A one-mile run up and down Michigan Avenue right before the Christmas Parade. The run benefits Saline cross country programs. If you haven't already registered, get there early.

5:30 p.m. - The 44th Annual Saline Christmas Parade. The Saline Area Chamber of Commerce presents the 44th Annual Christmas Parade. Led by Grand Marshals Jim and Alison Robison, the parade features 1,200 or more people. It's the largest and longest-running Christmas parade in Washtenaw County, organizers say. Lucy Ann Lance is the emcee.

Post-Parade - Photos With Santa. Right after the parade, visit 131 E. Michigan Ave. to have photos taken with Santa and Mrs. Claus.

7 p.m. - Holidays Electric. Musicians from the Ann Arbor-Saline Music Center will perform at the 109 Cultural Exchange (109 W. Michigan Ave.)

Sunday

1-4 p.m. - Santa Comes to Brewed Awakenings. Cookies. Milk. And photos with Santa. $10 (portion donated to ChadTough Foundation). 7025 E. Michigan Ave.

3 p.m. - Fairly Tale Christmas Carol. The Saline Area Players present A Fairy Tale Christmas Carol at the Fifth Corner, located at Willis Road and Ann Arbor Street.
