We’re fast approaching the holiday season, with only a week before the hustle begins.

Here are activities to enjoy with friends and family in and around Saline this weekend.

Alvorada and Friends Music at Brewed Awakenings

What:  Alvorada's music is Pan-Latin / Jazz / Fusion, with Brazilian sounds at the forefront. The songs they perform are either original, or they are very original interpretations & arrangements of classics in Brazilian & Other Latin Music, and of classics in other USA & World Musics.
When:  6:30 p.m., Friday 
Where:   Brewed Awakenings
Why:    Enjoy a cozy night of music while sipping coffee and eating baked goods and sandwiches at Brewed Awakenings Café.

Saline High School Drama Club Presents Inherit The Wind

What:   Saline High School Drama Club presents Inherit the Wind by Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee.
When:   7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.
Where:   Saline High School’s Ellen Ewing Performing Arts Center
Why:   Inherit the Wind, a classic courtroom drama, fictionalizes the 1925 Scopes "Monkey" Trial, which resulted in the conviction of  a small-town teacher for teaching Charles Darwin's theory of evolution to a high school science class, contrary to a Tennessee state law.  The debate between science and religion, what constitutes fact versus belief, and the protection of the freedom of thought are themes that still resonate almost 100 years later.
Cost:  General admission seating is $7.

Braun & Helmer Present a Motorcycle Auction

What:   Local auctioneers Braun and Helmer present “The Motorcycle Auction of a Lifetime.”
When:   10 am to 5 p.m., Saturday
Where:   Washtenaw Farm Council Grounds, 5055 Saline-Ann Arbor Road
Why:    From the estate of Larry Klein, of GT Motors, this auction features more than 60 motorcycles, including many classics.

Zentangle Presented by Salt Valley Arts

What:  Salt Valley Arts volunteers will teach you the techniques of Zentangle.
When:   Noon, Saturday
Where:   Saline District Library
Why:   Zentangle is a method of making beautiful art by drawing structured patterns. You will learn techniques of Zentangle, and go home with a unique piece and toolkit. Register at Registration required/space limited.

One Voice Choir Fall Concert & Tribute to Veterans

What:   Gospel music and a tribute to Veterans
When:   7 p.m., Saturday
Where:   St. Paul United Church of Christ
Why:    One Voice Gospel Choir will sing traditional and contemporary gospel music, and also celebrate and recognize our veterans.  All are invited!  Refreshments will be served following the concert. One Voice is a non-profit music outreach ministry in its 27th year of sharing the good news with communities all around the region.
