The Saline Twirlettes have won many honors trophies in their illustrious history. But last week, the Twirlettes set a new standard.

Competing at the National Baton Twirling Championships at Notre Dame University, the Twirlettes won the championship in the Grand National Senior Small Show Corps with Props.

Saline Twirlettes Director Susan Usher said it was the team’s 17th national title. But it was their first Corps national championship.

Grass Lake fifth grader Hanna Alvarez also had a great event. She placed in the top five in all her events to earn a place on the USA World Team that will travel to Norway in March for the World Baton Twirling Championships.

She’s the second Twirlette in program history to achieve such an honor.
