I am always worried about flooding on the south side during heavy rains. I wish it wasn’t like that
Every year and I do mean every year, weeds growing in the streets are out of control. The city doesn’t seem to care because EVERY YEAR THIS HAPPENS AND EVERY YEAR THE CITY IGNORES IT. Is it the homeowners responsibility to maintain the streets? We get no street sweeping on the south side and the weeds impede water flow to the catch basins. The weeds are not just a huge eyesore it also is causing some of the flooding in residential intersections. For what we pay in taxes the city needs to do its job. DPW workers that I’ve talked to recognize the problem and admit that the older neighborhoods are often overlooked. I truly appreciate their efforts and honesty just wish it didn’t take someone complaining to get the city to do their jobs. As a senior citizen I do my best to maintain my yard and property but it should not be my responsibility to maintain city streets. During yesterday’s storm I was out in the street in pouring rain and thunderstorms clearing all 4 drains to catch basins at the Rosemont/Canterbury intersection. Is this MY JOB.. NO. But the streets were flooded, covering the lawn extensions and over the city sidewalks so something had to be done. I’m so tired of this city government talking about the rec center, gathering places etc. Do your job the taxpayers are paying for first! Necessities over niceties!
I DON’T NEED A LAZY RIVER I ALREADY HAVE ONE EVERY TIME IT RAINS!!!
