Saline’s Summerfest promises more food, music and fun than ever before.

Summerfest takes place in downtown Saline Aug. 12-13.

Here’s a brief breakdown of the events, as well as links to find out more information:

Eats & Treats

On Saturday the firefighters will host their annual chicken broil, starting at noon.

That’s not all, throughout the weekend Dan’s is serving burgers, Mangiamo and Benito’s are serving pizza, the Lion’s Club will serve ice cream and the Kiwanis Club will serve hot dogs and other concessions.

The beer and wine tent will offer beer from Salt Springs Brewery Friday and Saturday.

Fun for the Kids

At Henne Field Saturday Saline Parks and Rec will have its inflatable obstacle course and bouncer, plus Summerfest is bringing in Disney Princess and Batman inflatables.  It costs $5 for the playground fun at Henne Field.

For older kids, there’s a 3-on-3 basketball tournament for kids 9-14. The tournament runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The fee is $60/team, with four people per team.

Two Twelve Arts Center presents 212 Summerfest Theatre from 2 to 4 p.m., also on Saturday.      

PEAC presents the annual Tricycle Races on North Ann Arbor Street at 4:30 p.m. Saturday.

The annual Youth Fishing Contest takes place at 8 a.m. at Mill Pond Park.

Athletic Challenges

There's the Probility Beat The Heat 5K Saturday morning. With a top prize of $500 for the top male and female runner, the event draws some of the best runners in Michigan. There's also a Kid's Dash, too, for the kids.  Click here for more.

There's also a co-ed fours sand volleyball tournament at the Rec Center Saturday. It costs teams just 12 to play. Registration is limited to the first eight paid teams. The tournament starts at 9:30 a.m. Call Brad Schwartz at 429-0551 for more.

Live Music & Entertainment

As always, Summerfest kicks off with local youth performers. Dancers from Dance Steps Studio, Dance Alliance and the Saline Rhythm Crew and the Saline Twirlettes will perform from 6 to 8 Friday. Pop and R&B outfit Persuasion Band headlines Friday night.

Phoenix Theory headlines Saturday. Also playing Saturday are 50 Amp Fuse (4 and 6:30 p.m.), Detroit Special (5:30 p.m.), and Paragon (noon).

Saline Street Machines

The annual classic car and hot rod show takes place on North Ann Arbor Street from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Registration is $12 (or $15 the day of the show). The first 24 pre-registered showers receive a t-shirt. The show is open to all makes, all models and all years. 

There are several awards up for grabs.

Craft & Art Show

The Saline Summerfest Craft & Art Show is a juried show that opens Friday at 5 p.m. and 10 a.m. Saturday. So far there are 31 artists booked for the show. They’re showing everything from bably blankets and metal sculptures to photography and jewelry.

Casino Games

Saline Rotary's Casino Night is held from 7 to 11 p.m. Friday. A $10 admission charge purchases $100 of play money to use at the four blackjack tables and one craps table. Several great prizes are available for the winners.

The Saline Summerfest Blackjack Challenge is Saturday at 8:30. Players begin with $25 in play money. As they run out, they are eliminated from the challenge. Click here for more.
