Marl Captures Democratic Endorsement from Washtenaw Party
Brian Marl has captured the endorsement of the Washtenaw Democratic Party.
The incumbent Marl captured nearly 70 percent of the votes, winning with 187 votes to 83 for opponent Michael McVey.
No other city candidates sought the nomination.
Carl Spina and Christy Lillie were acclaimed as the Washtenaw Democratic Party endorsement winners in the Saline Board of Education election.

It’s so disappointing when a non-partisan election receives partisan support for a candidate(s). It hasn’t always been this way. I remember the day when no one knew or cared what political party a school board candidate was associated with. Those were the days!

The important notes are that both candidates for Mayor align themselves as Democrats, so no Republican voice will be in the Mayor's Office. Is that a good thing or bad thing?
The challenger for the Mayors role was on the Saline Area School Board for many years. When he joined the Board, The Saline Area School District had the #7 rated High School in the State. While he served in Leadership of the School Board, the High School fell thirteen places to 20th. Is that the type of effectiveness we think should be brought to the attention of the community? Is that a indicator of how effective he would be as Mayor? Should the community be made aware of this information?
Also Carl Spina, is a retired teacher and long time officer of the Saline Area Teachers Union. Is that a good thing or bad thing?
Those are the more important items to note from the article. Too bad those items were not included in the write up so the community had as Paul Harvey used to say, "the rest of the story"
