On December 30, the Washtenaw County Office of Community & Economic Development, the City of Saline and the Ann Arbor Area Community Foundation (AAACF) announced a coordinated fundraising effort to support residents of Thorncrest Apartments in Saline who have been given non-renewal notices.
“When members of our community heard what was happening at Thorncrest they asked for ways they could help,” said Deputy City Manager Elle Cole. “We were grateful Washtenaw County and the Ann Arbor Area Community Foundation were able to provide this opportunity thanks to the generosity of fellow Salinians looking to help.”
The Thorncrest Residents Assistance Fund has been established to help provide financial support for residents during this period of transition. Funds raised will go towards resident moving costs, application fees, utility arrears and security deposits.
Community members who are interested in donating may do so by visiting bit.ly/donate2thorncrest or by scanning the QR code. Donations will be accepted online only through January 18.
All questions about the fundraising efforts may be directed to Deputy City Manager Elle Cole at ecole@salinemi.gov.
Wondering what happened with Thorncest lawsuits brought against the previous owner and search for contacts with the new owners. Seems there was a court date set in November or December?
Nice idea. Thank you to the kids who support this. Seems a bit of diversity in the make-up of the kids leading the group would go a long way to making "everyone" feel welcome. Sadly, not seeing it, at least in what is presented here.
Awful, racist perspective. There is nothing wrong with the "make-up" of these four kids.
Sunny, with a high of 67 and low of 31 degrees. Sunny during the morning, clear overnight.
As we noticed the rapid deterioration and indentation of the road from all of this truck traffic, which presumably will only get worse as the weather and road surface gets warmer, we have wondered just who is responsible for the cost to repair/replace these roads?
Did anyone ask the nearby residents if they want a party palace in their neighborhood? Traffic, parking, crowds, trash, noise: was any of this considered when making this decision?
The organizers are required to submit an application to the City of Saline for this event. If you wish to provide input, comments can be sent to the City Clerk or made in person at anytime or more specifically when their application appears on the council agenda.
So the senior citizens and the kids that decided not to go to work are doing what? Protesting what? Are they updet that KAMALA was REJECTED? Then let them have FREE CHEESE.
You are so easily triggered you ancient snowflake. Calm down. Get off the internet, stop listening to podcasts. Go touch grass. Your king lied to you, that’s very obvious at this point. Now, you just seem to be lying to yourself.
Tom you sound like your disillusioned by the liberal media are you admiting that your "wrong" I sense anger in your statement? What is it that you are AFRAID of? Is VOTE ID against your parties wish LIST?
Enjoy the senior parade!
In 1845 there was a flour mill, a dam and tailrace . It was placed on the National Historic Register as Schuyler Mills Historic District. This 13-acre historic district is now a well known landmark representing an era we will never see again..
