Saline Track and Field Teams Compete at the University of Michigan

Saline’s track and field teams competed at the Saline Spring Preview, held Thursday at the University of Michigan’s indoor track.

The big story for the boys came in the pole vault, where senior Kyle Nouhan cleared 15 feet, three inches, which would set the school record if the meet were not held indoors. Junior Eric Harris cleared 14-08 to finish second. Luke Atzinger was fourth (11-06) and Colin Nouhan (10-00) was sixth.

Preston Filla won the high jump, clearing six feet. Atzinger was Saline’s best long jumper, leaping 18 feet.

In the shot put, Cory Gildersleeve was third (43-08) and Nathan Powers was fifth (42-11).

The big story on the track was freshman Jacob Brunty, who ran the 400 in 53.99, good enough for second place. Saline’s two 4-by-800 relay teams finished fourth and sixth. The 4-by-200 team was fourth.

On the girls side, Skyler Hardt finished first, clearing 10 feet. Elise Renberg was fifth, clearing 7-00. Sloane Pepper was third in high jump, clearing 5-00. Emily Cook was Saline’s best long jumper, leaping 15-08.25 and finishing fourth.

On the track, Saline girls won the 4-by-800 relay. 

Kayla Fortino ran the 800 in 2:30.32 to finish third.

Emily Cook was fifth in the 60-hurdles (10.34). Amera Boyd was seventh in the 60 meter dash (8:27).
