Saline City Council granted a six-month extension to the final site plan for Huntington Woods Phase III.
The plan for the planned unit development was set to expire July 9. Council voted 7-0 to extend the plan until Jan. 9, 2021.
Assistant City Manager Mike Greene recommended the extension.
In a letter to the city, Joe Skore, VP of Land Acquisition for Pulte Homes of Michigan, said Pulte has obtained all requisite permits and off-site easements required. The pre-construction meeting was held Jan. 29.
"However, in light of the scope and speed of the unprecedented circumstances we are now facing regarding the Covid-19 pandemic, Pulte is requesting an extension of the final site plan approval from July 9, 2020 to January 9, 2021," Skore wrote.
Councillor Kevin Camero-Sulak asked how long it would take for Pulte to start building once the state re-opens.
"When we decide to ramp up, it will take us no time at all. We move very quickly and I see no impediments," Skore told council.
Answering a question from Councillor Jack Ceo, Skore told council that spec building is a small fraction of their building. A large majority is associated with buyers signing a contract, Skore said.
He noted that Huntington Woods Phase II is 80-85 percent sold.
Phase III features 25 new homes. Phase II was for 41 units.

Appreciate the coverage provided for Saline, Tran. That said, your biases are too often evident in what you choose to point out and the language used.
The mayor literally handed out a pre-printed motion in favor of Swallow and gave it to Lesch and Ceo to read first. Ceo read it word for word as a motion. It was drafted before the interviews. They were performative in an attempt to placate the public. I have nothing against Mr.
Once again, we are going to have to agree to disagree, Libby.
