Owen G. Campbell, age 85, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 surrounded by his family and under the loving care of Hospice of Lenawee and Cambrian Memory Care.
He was born on September 18, 1933 in Adrian, Michigan, the son of Ernest and Lila (Soncrant) Campbell. After graduating from Tecumseh High School, Owen served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War as a radio operator on board the USS Howard D. Crow. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, he returned to Michigan where he met, and later married Helen Sharp on July 13, 1962 and she survives.
During the 1970s-80s they owned Campbell’s Variety Store in Saline, Michigan. He also worked at the University of Michigan as a data engineer where he retired after a thirty-year career. He was an avid and dedicated University of Michigan football and basketball fan, a member of the American Legion and enjoyed traveling, watching old Westerns on television, and spending time with his granddaughters. He especially enjoyed the company of his friends at Cambrian Memory Care and their many outings and activities.
He is preceded in death by his parents and many relatives. Survivors, in addition to his wife, include their daughter Pam (Stan) Kuebler; son, Scott Campbell, and granddaughters, Kim and Kelly Kuebler. Cremation has taken place with a memorial to be determined at a later date. Memorial contributions in his name may be made to Hospice of Lenawee or Tecumseh American Legion.
