Woman Stopped from Selling Neighbor's Property at Yard Sale

Saline Police recovered allegedly stolen items from a yard sale on Nichols Street May 2.

The items were allegedly taken from the yard of a foreclosed property on Tower Street. The owner of the Tower Street home told police that she and her husband have been moving out of the home since December. A couple weeks ago, she told police, she noticed an antique wheel barrow and pot missing from the yard. Neighbors said they saw a Nichols Street woman take the items. The items were retrieved by the woman’s husband.

On May 2, the Tower Street woman noticed the Nichols Street woman was having a yard sale, and that several of the items for sale were from her house.

The woman called police.

The Nichols Street resident told police that she took the items because she thought they were abandoned, according to the report. She said many items were found near the curb.

The property was returned to the owner, who did not wish to prosecute.

Police advised the Nichols Street woman that it was illegal to enter homes without the owners’ permission.

Milan Man Cited After Providing False ID to SPD

A 44-year-old Milan man was cited for providing false identification to Saline Police May 3. A woman and two friends arrived at the police department to pick up her vehicle that was impounded earlier at Faurecia. The owner couldn’t drive the vehicle away because she had a suspended license. The woman was advised that their needed to be two valid drivers to pick up the vehicle. One of the men with her had a valid license. The 44-year-old Milan man told police he had a license, but not with him. Police told the man they could check if he had a valid license. The man provided what proved to be a fake identification, according to the police report. He was wanted for fraud out of the 36th District Court in Detroit. He was arrested by Saline Police. After 30 minutes of trying to contact authorities in Detroit, the man was released. He was issued a citation for providing false identification to a police officer
