The City of Saline welcomed its newest Saline Police Department patrol officer Morgan Siega during Monday's meeting.
Siega, a native of Monroe County, has been on the Saline Police Department since May 18. She previously worked for the City of Monroe as a police officer before briefly leaving the profession. Siega earned her bachelor of science degree in criminal justice from the University of Toledo and then went to the Wayne County Regional Police Academy at School Craft College.
Police Chief Jerrod Hart introduced Siega to city council and noted that she'd been involved in cheerleading since she was four years old
"She brings a lot of excitement and enthusiasm to the police department," Hart said. "It's infectious around our agency."
Sieja is nearing the end of her training program and will qualify for solo patrol in the coming weeks.
"Please join me in welcoming Morgan Sieja," Hart said.
The oath of office had been previous administered by Clerk Royal. Still, Chief Hart and Officer Sieja recited the Law Enforcement Oath of Honor.
Following the pledge, Sieja's sister pinned her badge to her uniform. Sieja then introduced proud family members in the audience.
Sunny, with a high of 91 and low of 61 degrees. Fog during the morning, sunny for the afternoon, clear overnight.
Perhaps we are missing something here? The decision to not find a reasonable accommodation to interview Kelley seems short sighted and contrary to ensuring the best interests of the schools and our children are given top priority.
“In our view…” who are you speaking for here?
I’ll answer then - not everyone. As for the candidate, I agree that the onus is on her to make it to the meeting. Six other candidates have rearranged their schedules to attend, it is not a requirement to give special consideration. Giving her credentials and resume during public comment was a good idea.
