Saline Faurecia Plant Area Disinfected After Salaried Employee Reportedly Diagnosed with Coronavirus
A section of the Saline Faurecia plant workforce was sent home Thursday so a disinfecting process could take place, according to UAW Local 892 president Larry Robinson.
The Saline Post reached out to company and union officials after employees reported the parts plant was being closed due to a worker being diagnosed with COVID-19.
Robinson said a salaried employee was diagnosed and has not been at the facility since Friday. Robinson also noted that a large portion of the workforce hadn't returned to work until Tuesday.
A section of the workforce was sent home Thursday so the area could be disinfected with a fog, Robinson said.
A company official could not shed much light on the situation.
"Saline is operating and we continue to follow Faurecia’s strict global safety protocols," said Misty Matthews, Faurecia spokesperson.
Washtenaw County Health Department Spokesperson Susan Ringler Cerniglia said the health department had no specific knowledge of the situation. She said some of this information is not necessarily made public.
"We are in communication with employers about recommended actions if an individual reports working while potentially infectious; we ask about employment/whereabouts during contact tracing," Cerniglia said via email.
