The union representing workers at Faurecia in Saline told membership it has made a formal recommendation to close the plant to allow it to be “completely sanitized.
UAW 892 President Larry Robinson, in a letter to members, said that Faurecia “has made it clear that they prioritize profits over the health and safety of blue-collar workers in the facility. This is unacceptable. So now, more than ever, we must fight on one accord.”
Robinson said the union would exhaust every option to protect the safety and well being of workers.
The announcement was made this morning, before Ford, General Motors and FCA agreed to UAW demands to close American factories. Faurecia makes door panels, consoles and other plastic pieces for the automotive industry.
Faurecia spokesperson Misty Matthews said the company has not determined its immediate plans for the Saline plant.
An employee of Faurecia, speaking anonymously, said workers have been told the company is considering a one or two-day shutdown.
Another employee reached out to The Saline Post to saw workers were considering an illegal “wildcat” strike against the company,

Perhaps we are missing something here? The decision to not find a reasonable accommodation to interview Kelley seems short sighted and contrary to ensuring the best interests of the schools and our children are given top priority.

I’ll answer then - not everyone. As for the candidate, I agree that the onus is on her to make it to the meeting. Six other candidates have rearranged their schedules to attend, it is not a requirement to give special consideration. Giving her credentials and resume during public comment was a good idea.
