The union representing workers at Faurecia in Saline told membership it has made a formal recommendation to close the plant to allow it to be “completely sanitized.
UAW 892 President Larry Robinson, in a letter to members, said that Faurecia “has made it clear that they prioritize profits over the health and safety of blue-collar workers in the facility. This is unacceptable. So now, more than ever, we must fight on one accord.”
Robinson said the union would exhaust every option to protect the safety and well being of workers.
The announcement was made this morning, before Ford, General Motors and FCA agreed to UAW demands to close American factories. Faurecia makes door panels, consoles and other plastic pieces for the automotive industry.
Faurecia spokesperson Misty Matthews said the company has not determined its immediate plans for the Saline plant.
An employee of Faurecia, speaking anonymously, said workers have been told the company is considering a one or two-day shutdown.
Another employee reached out to The Saline Post to saw workers were considering an illegal “wildcat” strike against the company,
Patchy rain nearby, with a high of 72 and low of 50 degrees. Don't forget your umbrella! Overcast for the morning, cloudy in the afternoon and evening, overcast overnight.
The city hiring process doesn't pass the sniff test. The schools have issues too. This is looking systemic.
What is going on at city hall? Like the schools, we need independent investigations to reveal the facts and the truths and a review of the activities being conducted publicly and behind closed door. Impropriety seems to be real but we won’t know without an independent investigation.
