The Washtenaw County Sheriff’s will be stepping up drunk driving patrols Nov. 22-25 across the county in an effort to keep roadways safe from distracted, intoxicated and otherwise dangerous drivers.
The countywide campaign aims to reduce deaths and injuries from car accidents — particularly important at this time of year, when millions of travelers take to the state's roadways. More than 400 people are killed each year during the Thanksgiving holiday and another 45,000 accidents occur, according to the National Safety Council. Statistically the Wednesday before Thanksgiving is one of the busiest bar nights of the year. Sheriff Clayton wants everyone traveling to get to their destinations safely.
If you are going to drink please have a designator driver or take a cab home. In Michigan, it is illegal to drive with a BAC of .08 or higher, although motorists can be arrested at any BAC level if an officer believes they are impaired. Motorists face enhanced penalties if arrested for a first-time drunk driving offense with a .17 BAC or higher.
“Our goal with these traffic details is to ensure that you and your loved ones travel safely over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend,” Sgt. Campbell said. “If you find yourself behind the wheel this holiday season, please drive sober, defensively, buckle up and watch out for other drivers.”

Nice of the attorneys to clarify this language at this point rather than having the foresight to understand that language should never have been in the agreement to start with!
Perhaps the Township should have sought counsel from an attorney not involved in the original contract negotiations (and perhaps they did - do not know) before changing direction.
Final thought - perhaps the attorney(s) working with the Township on the agreement can provide an explanation as to why that language HAD to be as represented in the final version of the agreement/why protections against exactly what has happened were not put in place.
I’m curious as to why Mr. Marl has announced his reelection intentions, started campaigning and collecting funds, but has not done the paperwork to put his name on the ballot yet?
Marl says he's got his signatures.
Citizens of Saline are finally waking up to all the failures of our current city government. Girbach is bailing (for good reason).
Having sadly been involved in the last few years with the care of two family members after loss of their partners then dealing with settling the estates which is far more time consuming and complex than anticipated, can understand this decision and commend him for prioritizing family.
Sounds as if you have been and are a supporter of Swallow and felt he was good for Saline. Nice to hear. As for the other observations, hopefully some of the turnover, including Girbach deciding not to pursue another term (talk about negative), will prove to produce a more positive environment.
