Saline Boys Bowling Team Qualifies for State Tournament

The Saline boys bowling team has qualified for the state championship.

Saline finished third in the 14-team regional tournament at Super Bowl Lanes in Canton, Friday. The Hornets finished with 3,856 points. Detroit Catholic Central was first with 3,970. Westland John Glenn was second with 3,964.

Saline and Canton spent much of the day battling for the third and final spot.

After the Baker games and Game 1, Canton edged Saline in Game two to take a slight lead for the third and final state qualifying position. 

Saline caught fire in the third game, scoring 949 points while Canton fizzled with 826 points. The 123-point difference gave Saline a 112-point victory.

On the girls side, Saline placed 12th with 2,443 points.

Saline's bowlers return to action for the individual qualifiers Saturday at the Super Bowls.

The finals take place March 2-3 at Sterling Lanes in Sterling Heights.
