Clara Bowen, 90, Volunteered at the VA Hospital in Ann Arbor for More than 20 Years

Clara Jane Bowen (Way), age 90, of Saline, passed away on Friday, February 16, 2018 in Saline.

She was born on July 28, 1927 in Pittsford, MI, the daughter of the late Alfred and Lola (Swyheart) Way. She married Ralph Bowen and he preceded her in death.

Clara was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Saline, she volunteered at the V.A. Hospital in Ann Arbor for over 20 years, and was a member of the Women’s Auxiliary and Saline American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include her children Nancy DeLand, Kirk Bowen, and Tina Bowen. Other survivors include her grandchildren Benjamin Rossman, Sheldon Bowen, Sara Bowen, two great-grandchildren Esais and Imana, and her sister Ann Alber. She was preceded in death by her daughter Mitzie, her brother Clarence Wiebusch, and sisters Ruth Pocock, Edith Ormsby, and Alice Kuhn.

A memorial service will take place on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at 1:00 P.M. at the Saline American Legion Post #322 in Saline. Friends may join the family for a time of visitation from 12:30 P.M. until the time of service at 1:00 P.M. Memorial contributions in her name may be made to the Saline American Legion Post #322, 320 West Michigan Ave. Saline, MI 48176 and envelopes will be available at the service.
