Hundreds of Salinians danced, ate and drank the night away Friday as Saline Summerfest began in downtown Saline. The festival continues Saturday at 8 a.m. and runs into the night.
Atomic Radio Band entertained the crowd with popular dance and rock songs from the last four decades. A crowd gathered around the stage and danced deep into the night.
At the tables, patrons drank beer, ate ice cream from the Lions Club, and ate sandwiches and other good offered by Dan’s Downtown Tavern, Smokehouse 52 and Saline Kiwanis. Benito’s Pizza also served pizza.
On South Ann Arbor Street, families waited in line to watch their children have their faces painted. Great Clips painted the hair of children. Others learned the basics from 9 Round 30 Minute Kickboxing Fitness.
Volunteers from Salt Valley Arts provided children with lessons in painting and water colors. Of the 29 vendors in the arts and craft show, many were from Saline.
The state champion Saline High School baseball team gathered one more time and was introduce by coach Scott Theisen in front of an appreciative Summerfest crowd.
The crowd was also entertained by dancers from Dance Alliance and Rhythm Dance Crew and the famous Saline Twirlettes.

9 am – 4 pm Saline Street Machines Car Show Awards @ 3:30 pm
9 am – 1 pm Electric Car Show, Historic Union School Parking Lot
9 am – 2 pm Co-ed Volleyball Tournament Saline Rec Center, pre-registration encouraged
10 am – 8 pm Saline Summer Craft Show
10 am – 2 pm Kids’ Games including Inflatable Obstacle Course & Bouncer,and Much More!
10:30 am – 2 pm 3 v 3 Soccer Tournament Henne Field
Noon – 1 pm Saline Fiddlers Philharmonic
Noon – 7:30 pm Saline’s Rotary Car Raffle (Winner announced at 7:45 pm)
