We welcome back local stained glass artist, Pat Deere to create glass fused crosses. In this class you will create two crosses; one you will keep, and the other will be left with Pat for her to permanently adhere to her art installation, which will be entered into the ArtPrize competition, and on display in September in Grand Rapids. Your crosses can be as detailed or as simple as you’d like, about 6-10”. You will also learn about glass art: how a kiln is prepared for fusing, what temperature is required for the desired effects you are looking for, and how glass color changes. Choose the morning time or afternoon time upon registration. Max 8 per class. You will need to wear safety goggles and close-toed shoes. If you have a pair of safety googles, please bring them. Sunny, with a high of 83 and low of 57 degrees. Sunny in the morning, clear overnight.
Would urge the city to NOT privatize the Rec Center or sell it.
Ali. There is a reason you don’t understand. You choose not to. Investing in our seniors health and wellbeing is much more important than investing in a recreation center that has continued to lose money and only serves a small portion of our city’s community.
We are seniors and fully familiar with both facilities. Perhaps what is not understood is the number of seniors who use the Recreation Center, in particular the aquatic center as arthritis for many of us means water is one of the few ways we can exercise. Many of course also use other areas of the facility.
EDIT: The Saline American Legion was a sponsor for this event, supplying the food for guests. SASC is grateful for their continued support.
Kudos to The Saline American Legion. They have been a consistent contributor to the SASC. Seniors in our community have earned and deserve the benefits that the senior center offers. Great work!
