Incumbent Jim Roth filed his nominating petition with the Saline City Clerk’s office Thursday morning.
Roth, who received the most votes among city council candidates in the 2011 election, submitted a petition with the signatures of 68 Saline residents.
“I think I’ve spent the last two years learning and now I’m ready to do something with what I’ve learned,” said Roth, a retired school teacher.
Over the past two years, Roth has developed a reputation as a council member who asks tough questions about spending.
Incumbent Linda TerHarr, former council member Terri Sibo and resident Sal Randazzo have also indicated their intention to run in the November election, when voters will elect three to city council. Late last week, incumbent Jim Peters said he was still considering whether he wished to seek re-election.
Candidates must submit nominating petitions and other qualifying documents to the city clerk’s office by 4 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 6. Petitions are available at city hall, located at 100 N. Harris St.
