New Subway Restaurant Plans Opening in 2014

The people behind a new drive-thru Subway restaurant slated for East Michigan Avenue say construction will start in the next few months. They plan an opening in the first quarter of 2014.

Saline’s Planning Commission has already approved the site plan for the restaurant, which will be located just east of the Reinhart Realtors office  near The Oaks plaza.

Hanuman Properties LLC will construct the 2,103-square-foot building on a lot that will include 19 parking spaces on two-thirds of an acre. Franchisee Sanjay Patel said the company also owns the Subway in the plaza at Moon Road and owned Saline’s west side Subway.

“This location has more visibility and provides better access to customers. We think there will be many people there who want our service,” Patel said.

Near Faurecia’s 1,765 employees, an industrial park, and an office park and shopping plazas, the restaurant hopes to appeal to on-the-go people looking for a quick lunch.  The restaurant will be the first Subway in the area with a drive-thru window.

Patel said he has seen research which says Subway serves drive-thru customers 15 to 20 seconds faster than McDonalds.
