Relays, DeKraker, Davis and Nouhan Lead Saline to 6th Straight SEC Red Track Title

Saline won its six straight SEC Red boys track and field title Friday at Skyline. The Hornets finished with 183 points. Pioneer was second at 148.5 and Bedford was third at 131.

Saline athletes came through with six victories and 11 all-conference performances.

Sophomore Anthony DeKraker (3200), senior Josiah Davis (300 hurdles) and junior Kyle Nouhan (pole vault) earned victories in individual events. John Giles, Brian Blankenship, Spencer Leslie and Austin Welch won the  the 4-by-800 relay (8:03.16). Blankenship, David Alberdi, Davis and Welch won the 4-by-400 relay (3.26.84). Konrad Dixon, Alberdi, Davis and Harrison Koch won the 4-by-200 relay (1:30.38 – .08 seconds faster than Pioneer).

DeKraker blew away the field in the 3200. He finished in 9:44.32, more than 10 seconds faster than the second place finisher. Davis won the 300 meter hurdles with ease in 39.85 seconds, more than 1.5 seconds faster than the second place finisher. Junior Ryan Farr was fifth in 42.55. Nouhan cleared 14.01 to win the pole vault. The second best vaulter cleared 13-01.

Brandon Brown earned all-conference honors in the shot put (2nd, 44-04) and discus (3rd, 116-05).

Matthew Wood cleared 5-09 in the high jump to place third in the high jump and earn all SEC Red honors. Preston Filla was fourth at 5-07. Wood also took third in the long jump, leaping 19-04.5 to win all conference honors. Benedict Watson was fifth at 19-03.

On the track, David Alberdi was second in the 400 (50.87). Harrison Koch was fourth (52.37.)

Saline had two all-conference runners in the 800. Blankenship was second in 1:58.49 and Welch was third in 1:59.68. Spencer Leslie (4th, 1:59.92) and Eric Wu (5th, 2:00.1) were right behind him.

Aidan Carichner was fourth in the 1600 (4:30.59). Benedict Watson was fourth in the 110 hurdles (17.24).

Luke Atzinger was fifth in the pole vault, clearing 10-07.

Saline will try to defend its regional title Friday at Saline High School.
