Saline Girls 3rd at SEC Red Meet
Running shorthanded the Lady Hornets settled for third at the SEC Red meet Friday at Skyline.
Saline finished behind Pioneer, one of the top teams in the states, and Skyline. The Pioneers won all four relays.
Saline enjoyed success, particularly in the distance events. Senior Hannah Cummings won the 800 in 2:16.72. Her sister Emma, a freshman, was sixth in 2:26.
Senior Regan Smith won the 3200 in 11:23.05. Regan Barsch (11:44.74), Kyra Ross (11:47.44) and Alexa Stern (11:51.01) finished fourth, fifth and sixth.
Erin Connor won the discus with a throw of 116-05. Vic Black was sixth (92-03). Connor was also second in the shot put (37-02). Alexandra Haugen won the pole vault by clearing 10-10. Skyler Hardt was fourth at 9-01.
Lauren Sayre (2nd, 5-01) and Nia Lancit (3rd, 5-01) earned all conference honors in the high jump.
The 4-by-400 relay team of Hannah, Emma and Haleigh Cummings and Catherine Dager was third (4:13). Hannah and Emma Cummings joined Jessi Larson and Regan Smith in the 4-by-800 team that placed second (9:35.91).
Saline hosts the regional Friday.
