Suspect Enters Home, Steals Keys and Vehicle While Saline Woman Sleeps

While an elderly woman slept, someone broke into her home, stole her keys and other items, and then drove away with her car.

A 75-year-old resident on the 500 block of Park Place went to sleep around 11 p.m., Aug. 13. When she woke up Aug. 13 she noticed her purse on the floor and the contents dumped on the counter. She then saw another bag dumped out on the kitchen table and pills moved. She realized keys were stolen from her purse and that her bronze 2013 four-door Ford Fusion was missing.  Along with the vehicle, phone chargers, sunglasses, a cane, a change jar and head phones were taken. Another $40 in cash was removed from her wallet.

Police found the vehicle with a flat tire and bent rim abandoned on Glenbrook Court. A caller told police the vehicle was left there between 4 and 5 a.m., Aug. 14.

A neighbor on Park Place told police that she saw two white males in the area on the night of the theft. One male was described as 25 with neatly trimmed dark hair and a thin build. He was wearing a dark t-shirt. The other male was described as taller. Another neighbor saw white two males described as in their late teens to mid-twenties. One wore a dark shirt and another wore a striped shirt.

Police found several phone chargers in the car that did not belong to the vehicle’s owner.

Suspicious Activities on Lambkins Road

A 19-year-old Lambkins Street man had his mother call police after watching two men entering vehicles around 2 a.m. Aug. 15. A man wearing a black t-shirt and black pants entered a blue Ford Fiesta and a Kia Rio. A second male wearing a “snap back hat with a straight brim” was spotted waiving at the first suspect to “hurry up.” Police searched the area but did not find the suspects. It appears nothing was stolen.

A 51-year-old Lambkins Street woman reported that someone tried to break into her home around 1:20 a.m. Aug. 15. The woman was watching television in her living room when she heard a noise at the back sliding door. She initially thought it was her cat, but when she learned about incidents in the neighborhood, she decided to inform police.

Bicycle Stolen

A bicycle was stolen from the 3000 block of Wildwood Court sometime Aug. 12-13. The bike, a Cannondale Adventurer valued at over $600, was kept in the garage.

Hit & Run

Someone clipped a vehicle parked at Ann Arbor and Henry streets and left the scene without reporting it Aug. 12. A 24-year-old Ann Arbor-Saline Road man reported the incident to Saline Police. His 2002 Buick was damaged while he was at work.

A police officer found a piece that the offending vehicle apparently left behind and checked a local auto dealership for a make and model.
