River Rats Double Up Lady Hornets
The Saline varsity girls basketball team dropped its second straight game Friday to host Ann Arbor Huron, 62-31.
The Lady Hornets stayed close to the River Rats for a quarter, but Huron outscored Saline 14-4 in the second quarter to take a 29-16 lead into halftime. Saline fell to 8-8 overall and 6-3 in the SEC Red.
Jamie Rittenhouse led Saline with 10 points and six rebounds. Sam Bruley scored five points and had two assists. Amanda Zylstra scored five points and grabbed five rebounds. Alyssa Heren had four points to go with her five rebounds.
Wednesday, the Lady Hornets fell to Romulus, 47-37, in overtime.
Zylstra (13 points and nine rebounds) hit two free throws with 12 seconds left in the fourth quarter to send the game to overtime. Taylor Mulder scored seven points and had three rebounds and two steals. Rittenhouse grabbed a team-high 14 rebounds and scored six points. Heren grabbed nine rebounds and scored four points. Bruley had four points and three steals.
Saline was down 24-13 at halftime before outscoring Romulus 15-5 in the third quarter to climb back into the game.
