Beazley, Shwayder All-State as Hornets 9th at State Finals

The Saline girls' track and field team, hobbled by an injury to star hurdler and sprinter Quenee' Dale, finished ninth at Saturday's state meet at Rockford High School. Saline, SEC and Regional champs, finished with 20 points. Oak Park won the meet with 92.

Saline had several all-state performances.

Senior Kennedy Beazley finished second in the 800 meter race. She finished in 2:10.96. Elianna Shwyader finished seventh in the 3200 meters (10:42.89).

Shwayder, Beazley, Abby Rentschler and Gloria Park gave Saline a third place finish in the 4-by-800.

The 4-by-200 relay team of Alexa Ross, Hailey Mayes, Alana Hollis and Janell Green finished seventh (1:43.03).

Wendy Szuminksi just missed making all-state in the pole vault. She cleared 11 feet and finished tied for ninth.

Senior Alexa Ross finished 10th in the preliminaries in the 200 meter dash (25.45) and sophomore Janell Green was 18th (26.28).

Gillian Walter was 29th in the 3200.

The 4-by-100 team of Janell Green, Alexa Ross, Alana Hollis and Lisa Gross just missed an all-state finish, placing ninth..

Erin Connor was 18th in shot-put (35-11.5)
