Saline Parks and Recreation Offers Halloween-Themed "Park or Treat"

COVID-19 continues to force postponement and cancelation of many annual events. With the Rec Center closed for the foreseeable future, Saline Parks and Recreation is taking some of their more popular events outdoors.

The annual Boo Bash event has been scrapped in favor of Park or Treat, which takes place in Saline Parks from 1-3 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 17. (Rain date is Oct. 24.)

"We would really like to make this a big deal for the kids of Saline who have had pretty rough 2020. Let’s make this a Halloween they won’t forget for all the right reasons," said Stephanie Ferguson, an official with Parks and Recreation.

Park or Treat combines trick-or-treating with a road rally and scavenger hunt that will take local families through Saline's parks, including Mill Pond Park, Tefft Park, Curtiss Park and Henne Field.

Participants are invited to wear costumes and decorate their vehicles. At each park, local businesses and organizations will set up trick-or-treat stations. Businesses can register here - or call 429-3502. There is no cost to participate, but participants are asked to have 500 treats to distribute along with their flyers and business information.

Park-or-Treaters pay $20 per vehicle.
