In an effort to help downtown businesses relaunch after the COVID-19 lockdown, the City of Saline is closing parts of Ann Arbor Street on Fridays and Saturdays.
The "downtown recovery zones" will close Ann Arbor Street between Michigan Avenue and Henry Street on the south, and between Michigan Avenue and the parking lot behind Dan's Downtown Tavern.
The road will be closed from 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, and from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday.
Downtown businesses and restaurants have been invited to use the streets to serve customers. Restaurants, who've seen indoor capacity depleted by social-distancing orders, can set tables and chairs on the road.
Saline Main Street is organizing volunteers to help set up the street. The downtown revitalization organization is also working with Salt Valley Arts, the Saline Leadership Institute, Summerfest and the Saline Farmers Market to create a street fair environment on Saturdays.
Sunny, with a high of 88 and low of 61 degrees. Sunny in the morning, overcast overnight.
Perhaps we are missing something here? The decision to not find a reasonable accommodation to interview Kelley seems short sighted and contrary to ensuring the best interests of the schools and our children are given top priority.
“In our view…” who are you speaking for here?
I’ll answer then - not everyone. As for the candidate, I agree that the onus is on her to make it to the meeting. Six other candidates have rearranged their schedules to attend, it is not a requirement to give special consideration. Giving her credentials and resume during public comment was a good idea.
