Saline Summerfest Canceled According to Sources, Miss Saline Pageant Will Go On Aug. 8
Covid-19 and the resulting social distancing guidelines have claimed another annual event. The Saline Post has learned from two sources that Saline Summerfest has been canceled.
Earlier this month, organizers of the Saline Celtic Festival announced the cancelation of the 25th annual event.
Saline Summerfest, which offers live music, food, youth performances, a classic car show, fishing contests, a 5K and more, was scheduled for Aug. 7-8.
The cancelation announcement has not been made on the event's website or social media channels.
Kim Bryant is co-organizer of the Miss Saline Pageant, which was scheduled to make a comeback after a two-year hiatus. The pageant was traditionally held during the Saline Community Fair and moving to Summerfest.
Bryant said via email Thursday the pageant is still planned for Aug. 8 at a location to be determined.
"We are working hard on 'Plan b,'" Bryant said.
She said the pageant has 11 applicants.
Fire Chief Craig Hoeft also confirmed Thursday evening that the department was not planning to have its annual Firehouse Chicken Dinner.
