Nothing beats the pandemic blues like good food.
Saline's newest restaurant, Paradise Mexican Restaurant, has opened to rave reviews at 699 W. Michigan Ave.

Armando Pacheco DeLaCruz and Sara Ruiz Pachecho are the husband and wife team who opened Paradise May 4. Saline diners may remember them from Mangiamo Italian Grill in downtown Saline, where they both worked for Pete Toarmina. Armando was the chef for Mangiamo's.
Paradise Menu specializes in authentic, freshly-made Mexican food.
Of course, they offer the stables. Tacos come with pollo, pescado, carnitas, chorizo and more. There are burritos, fajitas and quesadillas.
Paradise opens at 10 a.m. and serves several breakfast dishes, including huevos rancheros. Or you can try huevos con chorizo - eggs with Mexican sausage, served with rice, beans and tortillas.
The dinner menu includes pollo loco - a grilled chicken thigh served with rice and beans. Bistec a la Mexicana is a thinly cut steak with onions, tomatoes, cilantro, and jalapenos, served with rice, beans and tortillas.
Paridise offers pozole, a traditional Mexican stew, and menudo, a Mexican soup.
A kids menu includes chicken fingers, a cheese quesadilla and kids burrito.
Armando and Sara live with their family across the street from their new restaurant. In the coming months they were open the second side of their business, a market where they will sell canned and fresh food. They are also starting a small bakery and will sell sweet bread and cakes.
Dan cites large dollar amounts yet much of the support the rec center needs is due to past neglect/lack of support from the city and continual deferral of routine maintenance.
How many Michigan municipalities with less than 10,000 people can afford to maintain a rec center the city's size?
To name a few:
Flat Rock Michigan 2023 10,239 residents, beautiful fairly new community center with fabulous aquatic center, gym, and other exercise equipment (population under 10K when built, median income lower than Saline as well as lower house values).
Moderate rain, with a high of 84 and low of 71 degrees. Don't forget your umbrella! Fog during the morning, light rain shower for the afternoon, fog in the evening,
Would urge the city to NOT privatize the Rec Center or sell it.
Ali. There is a reason you don’t understand. You choose not to. Investing in our seniors health and wellbeing is much more important than investing in a recreation center that has continued to lose money and only serves a small portion of our city’s community.
We are seniors and fully familiar with both facilities. Perhaps what is not understood is the number of seniors who use the Recreation Center, in particular the aquatic center as arthritis for many of us means water is one of the few ways we can exercise. Many of course also use other areas of the facility.
EDIT: The Saline American Legion was a sponsor for this event, supplying the food for guests. SASC is grateful for their continued support.
Kudos to The Saline American Legion. They have been a consistent contributor to the SASC. Seniors in our community have earned and deserve the benefits that the senior center offers. Great work!
