The Pineapple House in downtown Saline is closing its doors, owner Joy Ely announced on the business website.
Ely plans to reopen the store, located on the northeast corner of Ann Arbor Street, on March second for a closing sale.
Ely said she plans to continue her interior design business and sell home decor products through social media, a new website, events and markets.
"It's been an unforgettable experience serving you in my beloved shop. I sincerely want to thank you for supporting Pineapple House and for being so important to me," Ely said.
Ely opened the store with her mother, Janet Swope, in 1983. In 1996, Swope stepped back from ownership duties but continued to work at the store. Joy's husband, Ron, was often seen doing repairs and maintenance work around the shop.
Pineapple House offered unique decor not often found in big box stores, including Mark Roberts fairies, restored antiques and seasonal decor. It was also known for Vera Bradley handbags.
The Pineapple House was known for its annual holiday open house. Ely closed the stores for several days in preparation for the event. She said one of her favorite things was hearing compliments of customers wowed by the shop's transformation.
