Michael Rotunno Taught and Coached Kids in Saline Schools for Nearly 40 Years

Michael J. Rotunno, age 82, passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2019 in Saline.

Michael was born on April 23, 1936, in Glen Cove Long Island, the son of Lorenzo and Maria (Stanco) Rotunno. He moved to Canton, Ohio when he was four years old and lived there until he graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1953. Mike was a star football player and given a scholarship to University of Michigan where he lettered in 1954, 1955, and 1956. He was also an active M-Club Member.

He had a very successful career at Michigan and graduated in 1957 with a bachelor’s degree and teaching certificate. Mike met his wife Janet (Milham) while both were students at UofM and they married on June 14, 1958. They moved to Saline where Mike worked for 39 years as a Social Studies teacher, guidance counselor, assistant superintendent, and driver education teacher. He loved coaching. He coached Saline Varsity and Middle School Football, Track and Junior Golf.

Mike loved to play golf and was a member of Ann Arbor Country Club for 40 years. He was happiest when he was able to play golf with his family and friends.

Mike leaves his wife, Janet, daughters Deborah (Greg) Hamlin, Kimberly (Jeff) Verhines, Christine (Brad) Breedveld, and Michelle (Scott) Corrunker. Also surviving are his eleven grandchildren, and one great-grandson. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at the Robison-Bahnmiller Funeral Home between the hours of 4:00 P.M. and 7:00 P.M.
