Michigan DEQ to Hold Andelina Farms Hearing at Saline City Hall March 21

At the urging of city leaders, the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality will hold a public hearing in Saline for the proposed permit for the Andelina Farms wastewater discharge plan.

Andelina Farms is a 280-home development planned for the city's western border in Saline Township. The development has been the subject of numerous City of Saline and Saline Township meetings.  Most recently, Saline Township planning commission delayed action on the final site plan for the development. City leaders, including Mayor Brian Marl, attended the meeting to voice opposition to several aspects of the plan - including the location of the wastewater treatment plant, the discharge of pollutants at the city's border, and the traffic plan.

The DEQ's Water Resources Division is proposing to issue a permit to Saline Ventures for the Andelina Farms wastewater facility, which would collect wastewater from the subdivision and then discharge treated wastewater to an unnamed tributary of the Saline River along the city's border. The public hearing will be held  from 5 to 9 p.m., March 21, at Saline City Hall, 100 N. Harris St..
