Notes from Tuesday’s Board of Education meeting:
The board approved the expenditure of $691,055.77 on furniture for K-5 classrooms. That includes $190,0422 to Norva Nivel USA for soft seating and storage, $23,017 to Great Lakes Furniture for storage, and $477,616.37 to VS America for non-traditional desks, height-adjustable tables, seating options and storage. The furniture will be installed in Heritage, Pleasant Ridge, Harvest and Woodland Meadows elementary schools this summer.
The board approved Director of Operations Rex Clary’s recommendation to award a $114,000 contract to Qualified Abatement Services for asbestos abatement at Saline Middle School. The firm was the low bidder and has a solid history with the district.
The board approved the following field trips recommended by Superintendent Scot Graden.
The board adopted the Human Resources report from Assistant Superintendent Curt Ellis. The report included the resignations of bus monitors Jamie Boysal and Sherry Farkas and the hiring of special education job coach Emily Rose and substitute bus monitor Marion Richardson.
