The purpose of the Community Education Basketball League is to provide students with an opportunity to learn and develop basketball skills, play games in an organized setting, understand good sportsmanship and team-work, and have fun! These leagues have been created for both the beginning and the experienced player — no previous experience is required. This league is open to all boys in grades 1-8 and girls in grades 1-8 (7th and 8th graders that do not play on school teams). The league will be divided into 7 divisions: 1/2 grade boys, 3/4 grade boys, 5/6 grade boys, 7/8 grade boys, 1/2/3 girls, 4/5/6 grade girls, 7/8 girls.* Once-a-week practices begin the week of January 3. Please indicate days you cannot practice at time of registration. The registration deadline is December 10. Games are Saturdays, January 8-March 5. No games over President's Day Weekend. Players need to purchase a jersey to participate in this league. Returning players may use their jersey from last year. New jerseys can be purchased at SCS Image Group. PURCHASE HERE!! Please indicate if you’d like to coach during registration.
*Grade levels of league divisions are subject to change based on enrollment numbers.
Dan cites large dollar amounts yet much of the support the rec center needs is due to past neglect/lack of support from the city and continual deferral of routine maintenance.
Moderate rain, with a high of 84 and low of 71 degrees. Fog for the morning, cloudy in the afternoon, overcast for the evening, fog overnight.
Would urge the city to NOT privatize the Rec Center or sell it.
Ali. There is a reason you don’t understand. You choose not to. Investing in our seniors health and wellbeing is much more important than investing in a recreation center that has continued to lose money and only serves a small portion of our city’s community.
We are seniors and fully familiar with both facilities. Perhaps what is not understood is the number of seniors who use the Recreation Center, in particular the aquatic center as arthritis for many of us means water is one of the few ways we can exercise. Many of course also use other areas of the facility.
EDIT: The Saline American Legion was a sponsor for this event, supplying the food for guests. SASC is grateful for their continued support.
Kudos to The Saline American Legion. They have been a consistent contributor to the SASC. Seniors in our community have earned and deserve the benefits that the senior center offers. Great work!
