Hall of Fame weekend is here. The Foundation for Saline Area Schools Hall of Fame weekend began Friday with a tailgate at Hornet Stadium honoring the class of 2018. The group was introduced at halftime of the varsity football game. Then, the formal induction ceremony takes place at the Saline High School Commons with social hour beginning at 5:15 p.m..
The Foundation for Saline Area Schools Hall of Fame was created to permanently honor individuals who have demonstrated outstanding individual ability, leadership, character, personal drive and dedication in their service to Saline Area Schools and, by extension, the community of Saline. The Hall of Fame is permanently displayed near the auditorium in Saline High School - visible to students, teachers and guests more than 350 days per year.
This year, the Foundation will be honoring the following eight individuals:
Mrs. Deborah Budnik - Distinguished Educator - Social Studies/Special Education Teacher 1984 - 2016
Dr. Michael Jhung, Distinguished Alumni - Saline High School Class of 1985
Mr. David Johnson, Distinguished Educator - Social Studies Teacher from 1969 - 2004
Mrs. Betsy Marl, Distinguished Educator - Elementary Teacher 1977 - 2017
Mrs. Sandy Nadig - Distinguished Service - Board of Education President, Community Leader
Mr. Robert Phillips - Distinguished Educator - Music Teacher/Fiddlers
Mr. Kenneth Sturms - Distinguished Service - Community Leader - SASA
Mr. Sam Swartz, Distinguished Alumni - Saline High School Class of 1995
Irresponsible.
Rather like the $ being spent at the Senior Center, at least a large part of it. Was just there yesterday morning and they were removing a large number of serviceable wall cabinets still in very good condition and replacing with new ones.
How will the working group be chosen? Are community members on the committee?
Sunny, with a high of 50 and low of 31 degrees. Clear during the morning, sunny during the afternoon, partly cloudy in the evening, clear overnight.
Invest in the Davenport house and save the city some money.
Congratulations to you Ms.Cole! Very well deserved.
Saline City Council railroaded you out while you were doing an excellent job. Saline’s loss thanks to Mayor Marl’s manipulations and his divisive and dysfunctional council.
Glad to see she has landed somewhere. Time shall tell whether this is or is not a positive for Chelsea.
Why is there such a revolving door at city hall?
Why is this not up for public vote???
This is undoubtedly the most absurd thing that dysfunctional Marl and Council have ever proposed.
STAND UP SALINE!
Another loss for the citizens if they spend this money
Would love to see the land and structure preserved. That said, Saline has other priorities and it is difficult to support expenditure for both purchase and ongoing maintenance. If the City wants to preserve this landmark, other outside funding sources need to be identified and leveraged.
