Janet Dillon officially announced her candidacy for Saline City Council Wednesday.

Dillon is one of three incumbents seeking re-election, along with Dean Girbach and Christen Mitchell. Brian Cassise is also collecting signatures to run for office.

To date, Brian Marl is the only person who has pulled a petition to run for mayor.

Dillon was elected to council in 2014 and re-elected in 2016.

" It has been an honor and privilege to serve the residents of the City of Saline throughout the course of my past two terms on city council. I place great value on the importance of good and engaged government," Dillon said in a statement. "Serving with excellence and a dedication to the citizens of Saline through proactive and responsible decision making will continue to be my ongoing priority."

Dillon and her husband, Matt, have lived in Saline for 11 years. They have three children.

According to City Clerk Terri Royal, Dillon is the only candidate whose nominating petition has been verified. The other candidates for council have not yet submitted their nomination petition for inspection.

The clerk's office is in the process of inspecting signatures on Brian Marl's nomination petition.

Marl, first elected in 2012, is seeking a fourth term as mayor.

Petitions must be returned to the city clerk's office, at 100 N. Harris St., by 4 p.m., Aug. 7.
