Things to Do in Saline This Weekend: Craft Show, Veterans Day Activities, Stony Lake Birthday and More

It’s going to be a festive weekend in Saline. Get into the holiday spirit at the annual Saline Craft Show, Saturday at Saline Middle School. There’s another holiday event on Arkona Road, where Santa and reindeer will be at Faithview Christmas Village on Saturday. Later on Saturday, Stony Lake Brewing celebrates two years in business with an evening of music and microbrews.

Sunday, celebrate the efforts and sacrifices of America’s veterans at a free concert at Saline Middle School.

Alvorada & Friends Music at Brewed Awakenings

What: Alvorada's music is Pan-Latin / Jazz / Fusion, with Brazilian sounds at the forefront. The songs they perform are either original, or they are very original interpretations & arrangements of classics in Brazilian & Other Latin Music, and of classics in other USA & World Musics.   
When: 6:30 p.m., Friday    
Where: Brewed Awakenings Cafe  
Why: Great local music in a relaxed atmosphere with great coffee, snacks and sandwiches.   
Cost: Free.   

Saline Craft Show

What: About 10,000 people are expected at Saline’s signature craft show, where over 249 crafters will showcase their most recent work. Paintings, rugs, stoneware, jewelry, holiday décor and much more.  
When: 8 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.
Where: Saline Middle School   
Why:Unique, one-of-a-kind shopping experience right before the holidays. Plus it benefits many Saline Area Schools activities.    
Cost: $5. If you can’t park on site, there are shuttles from Faurecia.   

Veteran’s Day Fundraiser at Brewed Awakenings

What:  Dine and drink at Brewed Awakenings while shopping for comfy clothes from LulaRoe. 20 percent of the proceeds will help purchase care packages for veterans  
When: 3 to 5 p.m., Saturday.   
Where:Brewed Awakenings Café, 7025 E Michigan Ave. 
Why: Brewed Awakenings and LulaRoeMichelleVIP are teaming up to raise money for Hearts in Box, a Saline non-profit that fills and ships care packages to US Military personnel.        
Cost: No cost.

Stony Lake Brewery Anniversary

What: Stony Lake Brewery owners Jerry and Heidi Tubbs celebrate their second anniversary with a night of music and microbrews.
When: Doors open at 5 p.m. Saturday
Where: Stony Lake Brewery, 447 E. Michigan Ave.
Why: The beers will be tapped starting at 5 p.m. Cosa Sabrosa food truck starts serving Mexican and Latin food at 6 p.m. Hamilton’s Steel City Rovers takes the stage at 8 p.m.
Cost: Tickets are $40, which include music, food, and two pints. Get tickets at the brewery or online at www.stonylake.com.

Learn about the “Mad” General Wayne

What: The Saline Area Historical Society presents a program on the “Mad” General Anthony Wayne
When:  2 p.m., Sunday   
Where: The Brecon Room, Saline District Library.
Why: Re-enactor Frank Butwin portrays the “mad” General Anthony Wayne, talking about his ancestry, his early days, association with Ben Franklin, his battles and the impact he had on the Midwest.   
Cost:Free.   

Veterans Tribute Concert

What: The New Horizons perform the 13th Annual Veterans Tribute Concert.
When: 4 p.m., Sunday    
Where: Saline Middle School  
Why:  In honor of Veterans’ Day, the New Horizons Band offers its annual free concert, which features a roster of patriotic and military songs.  
Cost: Free.
