Friends Plan Event To Support Saline Family Whose Son Has a Heart Ailment

Friends are rallying around a young Saline family whose son is struggling with a serious heart ailment.

Blake Largent, who only recently turned a year old, is the son of Jordan and Rose Largent. Blake has a heart defect called looper—transposition of the great arties, which means his left artery is on the right side and vice versa. At three weeks old, he underwent open-heart surgery and he’s twice had surgery since. A pacemaker was installed during his third surgery in the hopes that it will prevent him from requiring a transplant.

According to a GoFundMe page set up to assist the Largents, doctors at Mott Hospital discovered a problem with weak blood flow in his left artery, which caused Blake to go into heart failure. He takes five different medications to keep his heart functioning.

On Aug. 19, from noon to 14, friends are celebrating “Hero Day at the Park,” at Tate Park, just down the road in Clinton.

Children will meet superheroes, princesses, firemen, police officers and military personnel.

A DJ will play music, kids will make arts and crafts and play at the bubble station.

The cost is $30 per child. Each ticket includes a child’s meal and a cookie.
