The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch that is in effect until 8 p.m.
Storms will have potential to become severe all over southeast Michigan and could produce wind gusts of 60 miles per hour and golf-ball size hail. The environment could also produce tornadoes, according to the National Weather Service.
The Washtenaw County Emergency Operations Center has been partially activated to track developing storms, coordinate the Skywarn spotter network and issue warnings when appropriate. Please stay tuned to local media outlets. If threatening weather approaches, take shelter in a study building and stay away from windows. In the event of a tornado, get inside and go to the lowest floor of the building. Take shelter in a small closet and cover yourself to prevent injury due to flying debris.
