Gallery: Saline Football Team Scrimmages Against Birmingham Groves

Tuesday morning, the Hornet football team got the chance to hit someone else.

The Hornets scrimmaged against Birmingham Groves on a steamy morning at Hornet Stadium. The half-field scrimmaging took place after about 30 minutes of practice with the players from Groves.

Both teams looked a little rusty at first. But after a few reps, the Saline offense, led by senior QB Josh Jackson, began to click. The defense was burned for a touchdown on its first series. But the Hornets quiickly adjusted. Led by defensive ends John Raupp and Sean O'Keefe, the Hornets stopped Groves for several losses before the depth players entered the action.

The Hornets have a four-team scrimmage at 1 p.m. Thursday at Dearborn. Saline opens the season Aug. 28 at home to Rockford.
