On March 16, 2023, the Sarah Caswell Angell Ann Arbor chapter of the NSDAR presented Good Citizen awards to the following Washtenaw County area students: William O’Haver (Dexter High School), Aashna Nadarajah (Huron High School), Holly Bennardi (Whitmore Lake High School), Gigi Paulino (Pioneer High School), Peter Mourad (Chelsea High School), and Aiden Burke (Saline High School).

Selected by their schools, these incredible students truly demonstrate the qualities of dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism. The chapter winner was determined in part by completing optional criteria, including an essay on citizenship. Gigi Paulino was recognized as the chapter winner allowing for her essay to be considered for state scholarship awards. These six winners received certificates, pins, a monetary award, and a copy of the book 1776. William O’Haver also received the State Award.

As our country prepares to celebrate the 250th anniversary of its founding, high school seniors who represent the very best of our nation’s good citizens will continue be recognized.
