Losing one’s life while tending to a Great Lakes lighthouse wasn’t such an unusual occurrence, as the likelihood of drowning at sea or dying from work-related injuries were common back in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Death by murder, suicide or other unnatural causes were not unheard of either.
Join Dianna Higgs Stampfler for a Zoom presentation on her new book, Death & Lighthouses of the Great Lakes: A History of Misfortune & Murder, and hear tales of true crime and the untimely deaths of those brave souls who lost their lives guarding our great shores.
