Garrick Roemer Led The Hornets In Battle
I track so many talented youngsters through my camera lens. Garrick Roemer was among the brightest.
He was a good-looking, all-state 400 meter runner who ate up the track with big, long strides. For me, it was a challenge capturing that long body in my lens. It was so rare to see a guy that tall run with such power.
After a big track meet, when I needed an athlete to sum up the day with a quote, Garrick was my go-to guy because I knew he could articulate where the team was and where it was going. It was no surprise when he was recruited to run at the University of Michigan.
Garrick Roemer, co-captain of a great 2012 track and field team, was a leader, teammate and friend to many.
Today is a sad day. Garrick Roemer will be missed.
