Field Hockey: Saline Falls to Dexter, 1-0
DEXTER -- Saline's field hockey team fell to Dexter, 1-0, in a battle of two of the state's best teams.
Saline, which clinched the Division II regular season title Monday, and Dexter were engaged in a scoreless battle for 40 minutes before the Dreadnaughts finally tallied.
Dexter senior Rachel Mount scored the winning goal for Dexter on a penalty corner.
"Dexter has very talented, fast players who move the ball with speed up and down the field. They were the better team out there today," coach Erica Reilly said.
Dexter had 12 penalty corners and Saline had eight.
"This is type of competition that will help prepare for post season play," Reilly said. "In the next week, we will work on better off the ball movement and higher ball speed."
Saline will likely open the playoffs at 7 p.m., Oct. 27, at home to either Farmington or Brighton.
