Cross Country: DeKraker Leads Saline to Victory at Marauder Invitational
Sophomore Anthony DeKraker was Saline’s fastest runner as the Hornets placed four in the top eight to win the Marauder Invitational at Lake Erie Metropark Saturday.
Dekraker finished fourth overall in 16:30 – 10 seconds faster than Evan Koerschner, who was fifth, and Connor Meehan, who was sixth (16:40). Bryan Adamovicz was eighth in 16:49. John Giles was 11th in 17:07 and Glen Luckhardt was 20th in 17:44.
Saline won with 34 points – 69 better than second place Grosse Ile. The race was won by Milan senior Joey Humes (15:50). The Hornets will return to Lake Erie Metropark for the regional later this fall.
Led by Aidan Carichner, Saline tore apart the field in the junior varsity race. The Hornets took the top 22 places in the race and 25 of the top 26.
Carichner won the race in 17:06.8 – the best time of his high school career. Josiah Davis was second in 17:16 – beating his best by 13 seconds. Aaron Milley, in fifth, also set a career best (17:26).
