Lady Hornets Overcome Slow Start to Spike Pioneers
The Saline varsity volleyball team overcame a slow start Wednesday to defeat Pioneer, 25-17, 23-25, 25-11 and 25-16.
Saline improved to 24-7-2 overall and 6-1 in the SEC.
"I wasn't very happy at all with our first two sets," said Saline coach Lisa Shea. "We missed too many serves and we just didn't play with the kind of energy and discipline that I expect this team to play with."
But Saline bounced back and played well in the final two sets.
"We played with a lot more urgency, and we were a lot more crisp. And that is what I want to see us carry into the weekend," Shea said.
Kenzie Shand led the Lady Hornets with 12 kills and four blocks. Ani Agbabian had nine kills. Natalie Sheridan led the defense with 22 digs. Taylor Whitling had 39 assists for Saline.
