CORONAVIRUS: One New Death, Two Hospitalizations in Washtenaw County Healh Department Data
Another Washtenaw County resident has died and two more were hospitalized, according to COVID-19 data updated by Washtenaw County Health Department Tuesday afternoon.
107 county residents have died as a result of COVID-19. 384 residents have been hospitalized.
The county also reported 15 new lab-confirmed cases, bringing the total to 1,561. There were 20 new recoveries, bringing the total to 1,315.
There were four new lab-confirmed cases in Saline's 48176 zip code, bringing the total to 86. County health department officials could not confirm reports of a recent cluster of infections affecting young Saline residents.
The county has experienced an increase in confirmed cases, hospitalizations and deaths.
Last week's case count was 74 - highest since the week of May 2. And this week's numbers appear destined to top last week's.
The number of hospitalizations this week has reached four, so far - equal to the previous three weeks. In mid-June, Washtenaw County had a week with zero deaths. Since then there have been six.
Still, the county is far away from the peak of 22 deaths in one week, recorded in early May.
Michigan saw 30 new deaths added to the total, bringing the state's count to 6,005. 20 of the new deaths were counted after a review of vital records.
The state counted 454 new cases. Despite the higher case count, the number number of patients in critical care yesterday was 179 - down from 1,570 in April. The number of patients on ventilators was 99, down from 1,365 in early April.
